Here at Fosters' Dental we understand that many people experience a great deal of worry and anxiety about having dental treatment and we will work hard to make the experience as pleasant as possible for you.
We are experienced at helping nervous and anxious patients undergo treatment in our practice. We take the time to fully understand the causes of your anxiety, and discuss ways that we can help you overcome these.
In some instances treatment under sedation or general anaesthetic may be appropriate, your dentist will discuss this with you at your check up appointment.
Sadly we have no facilites to provide sedation within the practice, sedation clinics are run by external clinics who are also very understanding of dental anxiety.
"As a small child I had an extremely bad experience following a dental extraction
which ended with me having to stay in hospital overnight. As a result of this I now have an abject fear of anything dental; but know the importance of having regular check-ups so out of a sense of
duty to myself religiously attended regular appointments at a dentist in Doncaster. I have been very unhappy with the overall way my fear has been treated for many years at that practice but could
see no way out of this until I came across a dentist who was working at my old practice covering maternity leave.
What a dentist! They always take the time to talk with me prior to examination to put me at ease, explain exactly what is going to happen and the tools they will be using, how they are going to feel and their sound, we arrange hand signals so if I am overwhelmed they can stop allowing me to regain my composure. They realise that it is not just about getting the dental work done and getting me out of the door it is the whole holistic approach. I can't thank them enough for the way they have changed my overall approach to, what has previously been an extremely traumatic experience for me. I even elected recently to have go of my own volition to have an extra treatment - which is an achievement for me!
The surgery is light, bright, airy and extremely clean, the dentist and staff (reception and dental nurses) are friendly and personable and call me by my first name, again making me feel at ease. I have only been going there since June this year but feel like I have always been a patient there.
I would heartily recommend anyone to go to Fosters Dental Practice, they don't force you into having treatments that you don't want or need, discuss all the options available to you and are extremely personable. They treat me like a friend which, when you have fear as I do, is the most important thing!
Thank you for your kindness."
